1-Day Traffic Survival School for Arizona Drivers
Welcome to Copper State Traffic Survival School!
We are an Arizona MVD authorized provider of TSS, licensed by the Arizona Chapter of the National Safety Council.
We know you have many options when it comes to choosing a Traffic Survival School. It is our goal to empower you with the knowledge to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community. We strive to provide a comprehensive, engaging and enjoyable class in a nonjudgmental environment. Our instructors have years of teaching experience, law enforcement backgrounds, and extensive knowledge of traffic code. They are motivated by your success, and are here to help you safeguard or restore your driving privilege.
You are required to complete TSS if:
An Arizona court or an out of state court (with AZMVD approval) ordered it
You received a notice directing it because:
You have accumulated 8 or more points on your driving record 12 months
You have already taken a Defensive Driving Course in the last 12 months
You have been convicted of:
Running a red light or stop sign
Aggressive driving
A moving violation resulting in death or serious injury
Your first moving violation and you are under 18
Class Details
Classes are eight (8) hours, including 30 minutes for lunch. Check-in begins at 7:30 A.M. at all locations except Union Hills, where check-in begins at 8:30 A.M. Lunch is not provided, but all of our locations have food options available nearby.
The fee for the in-person course is $140, which can be paid at the time of registration or when you arrive on the day of the class (see FAQs for more details on payment methods). Please note, it is very important that you arrive on time for class. Late students cannot be permitted. The fee for the Zoom course is $160, which must be prepaid before the day of the class. Only students with an approved waiver may attend Zoom classes. Please contact us or check the ANSC TSS website for information on obtaining a waiver.
We are considerate of your time and the resources it takes to complete TSS. We ask all of our students to please be respectful of your instructor and your fellow students. Regardless of anyone’s feelings or opinions about attending TSS, we are all here for a common purpose: to learn important information and fulfill a necessary requirement. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated, and any students who cannot abide by this requirement will be dismissed from the class and will not receive credit for attendance. We appreciate your attention and participation, and we believe every student has something to offer the class.

Class Fees: $140 in-person, $160 Zoom
For in-person classes, payment can be made when you register or when you arrive for class.
NOTE: Zoom classes require a waiver from ACNSC and must be prepaid. Contact us for Zoom registration.

Please bring the letter you received from ADOT/MVD, along with your driver’s license or state ID card. If you have not prepaid, please be prepared to make your payment with one of the methods listed below. You are also welcome to bring a drink or snack.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a class, please contact us via telephone or email us soon as possible. If you have already paid, your class fee will be applied to the new class when you reschedule. If you cancel, your class fee will be refunded.

We accept cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, debit/credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). We also accept cashier’s checks or money orders made out to Copper State Traffic Survival School.

As soon as the class ends, your instructor will verify that you have met the attendance requirement and passed the written exam via a live link with NSC. An electronic record of your attendance and certificate is then automatically forwarded to MVD immediately. Your instructor will provide information on your next steps.

No, Traffic Survival School is not the same as Defensive Driving. Defensive Driving is an optional course that is completed voluntarily via the Arizona Courts. For information on Defensive Driving courses, visit https://www.azcourts.gov/drive
